Presentations
10 03 20101. Do you like presenating information? (why or why not)
Yes, i like presenting information. I like presenting information because I like to compare my answers and opinons with the others in my class. I also like to present infront of the class because it helps to build social skills.
2. What do you think are the key elements in a good speech?
A few special key elements in a good speech are making eye contact with a few of the people in the audience, speaking slow and clearly, and not straying off of the main topic.
3. What is difference between giving a speech about something you enjoy as opposed to something that you do not enjoy?
It is easier to talk about something you like becuase you are intrested in that topic. Talking about something you do not like is harder because you are not intrested in that topic and you do not care as much about that topic as opposed to another topic that you actually like.
4. Why do you believe powerpoint is a helpful tool to use for presenations?
I think that powerpoint presentations are helpful because it is like having your notes infront of you but in a better way because instead of reading tiny note cards you have a huge screen to glance at occasionally when you forget what to say.
5. When do you think you will be using power point after high school?
Powerpoints are used in so many places everday such as schools including highschool and college levels. Also, many businesses and business people use powerpoints for many different types of presentations.

Beyonce Knowles
23 02 2010After listening to and watching all of the videos today about important African Americans that have shaped the world we are all living in today I chose who has had the biggest impact on my life. For me the person who had an impact on my life out of those few people we learned about was Beyoncé Knowles. Even though I think that Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. did extraordinary things in their life times but since I am only 16 I can more closely relate to Beyoncé. Growing up I’ve listened to Beyoncé’s music from her career with Destiny’s Child to her solo career. Her music is amazing and as a young teenager I can really relate to her music. Her music is not the only reason why I look up to her. She is a young African American woman who has won many awards such as Grammys and has been nominated for many others. She has really opened up many doors for women in the music industry never mind also for the African American race. She truly demonstrates what a hardworking power-driven woman can do in life.

Why I attend St.Mary’s High School
25 09 2009The main reason I attend St. Mary’s High School is because of softball. Growing up softball has always been my favorite sport and my parents wanted to send me to a good school that has a good softball program. At first my dad was very hesitant about sending me to St. Mary’s but my mom and I finally convinced him to let me come. I came for freshman for a day January of my eighth grade year and absolutely feel in love with it. I came from a public school so I loved the fact that all the classes were smaller and just that the school was smaller in general. Another reason I chose St.Mary’s was because my mom and my brother both went to St.Mary’s. School spirit is important in any school, it shows all your sports teams that you support them.

Bad Posture
24 09 2009Today when I typed bad posture into google this site www.mortonsfoot.com/badposture popped up so I decided to look at it. This website reiterated what Mrs. Fagan said in class. Some things that I really found similar were:
1. ” Bad posture can most often be blamed on your feet. “
2. Straighten your back, good posture
3. Lift your chest, good posture
4. Roll your shoulders, good posture
5. If your head is out forward of your shoulders, that is demonstrating bad posture.

Current Event
23 09 2009One current event that really caught my eye is the one about two school administrators who said a prayer at a school luncheon. The two men were Frank Lay and Robert Freeman. Frank Lay is the principal of Pace High school and Robert Freeman is the athletic director. Pace High School is located in Pace, Florida. The article states that at a school luncheon these two men lead a prayer. The two men could face up to 6 months of jail time and could be fined. I personally think that they should only get a “slap on the wrist” type of punishment. I feel that they must have to apologize to the school’s students, faculty and staff. They should even have to pay a fine, but I feel that jail time is a little too extreme for a situation like this. I understand where all the free rights come in but I do not personally think that they were saying this prayer to put down anyone elses religion. This really caught my attention because since I go to a catholic school and we openly pray whenever we want it was weird to hear that two men could be put in jail for it.
