Today in Salt Lake City, Utah Elizabeth Smart finally speaks out. Almost 9 years and 3 months after she was abducted she testifies. Elizabeth Smart is now 21-years old and told her terrible story in court today. On June 5, 2002 David Mitchell took her out of her room and into the mountains of Utah. Elizabeth said that they were “married” and then he raped her, she said he would rape her multiple times a day and would drug her up or get her drunk to take advantage of her. She finally today got her voice heard and told her story. David Mitchell was singing and closing his eyes so the judge had him removed before Elizabeth could start her testimony. Elizabeth told family and members of the court that she wanted him to hear her testimony and she was told that he heard every word of it.

Why I attend St.Mary’s High School
The main reason I attend St. Mary’s High School is because of softball. Growing up softball has always been my favorite sport and my parents wanted to send me to a good school that has a good softball program. At first my dad was very hesitant about sending me to St. Mary’s but my mom and I finally convinced him to let me come. I came for freshman for a day January of my eighth grade year and absolutely feel in love with it. I came from a public school so I loved the fact that all the classes were smaller and just that the school was smaller in general. Another reason I chose St.Mary’s was because my mom and my brother both went to St.Mary’s. School spirit is important in any school, it shows all your sports teams that you support them.
Bad Posture
Today when I typed bad posture into google this site www.mortonsfoot.com/badposture popped up so I decided to look at it. This website reiterated what Mrs. Fagan said in class. Some things that I really found similar were:
1. ” Bad posture can most often be blamed on your feet. “
2. Straighten your back, good posture
3. Lift your chest, good posture
4. Roll your shoulders, good posture
5. If your head is out forward of your shoulders, that is demonstrating bad posture.
Current Event
One current event that really caught my eye is the one about two school administrators who said a prayer at a school luncheon. The two men were Frank Lay and Robert Freeman. Frank Lay is the principal of Pace High school and Robert Freeman is the athletic director. Pace High School is located in Pace, Florida. The article states that at a school luncheon these two men lead a prayer. The two men could face up to 6 months of jail time and could be fined. I personally think that they should only get a “slap on the wrist” type of punishment. I feel that they must have to apologize to the school’s students, faculty and staff. They should even have to pay a fine, but I feel that jail time is a little too extreme for a situation like this. I understand where all the free rights come in but I do not personally think that they were saying this prayer to put down anyone elses religion. This really caught my attention because since I go to a catholic school and we openly pray whenever we want it was weird to hear that two men could be put in jail for it.
My Favorite Childhood Memory
Every summer my family and I go on a trip to an island. We’ve been doing this since i was 5 years old. My dad hates to go to the same place twice and wants to experience all different things in life so we go to a different island each year. My favorite island that we’ve gone to is Turks and Caicos. Turks and Caicos is the most southern island in the Bahamas. I was only 8 years old when we went there but i remember every detail. It was the most beautiful island i’ve ever seen. I’ve been to many places before and it is still my favorite. The water is completely clear and you can see the fish swimming around you. The wildlife on the island is also beautiful. It truly is my favorite childhood memory because I’ve never forgotten and never will forget about it. I loved spending all that time with my family on a gorgeous island.
